Here's how easy it is...
  1. 1. In a large non-stick saucepan, melt the butter and sugars over a low heat until the sugar has dissolved, stirring all the time.
  2. 2. Add the condensed milk and golden syrup and gently bring to the boil, stirring often. Simmer for about one minute, then stir in the raisins and puffed rice.
  3. 3. Pour into the prepared tin and leave to set in a cool place. When cool, cut into squares.

I tried this last night and threw it away this morning :-(.
There seemed to be too much liquid for the amount of raisins and rice crispies. I knew it would never set so I added another three handfuls of rice crispies. I put the end result in the fridge overnight. This morning I tried to cut into squares but the whole thing was just a sticky runny mess. I tried to eat some but had to use a fork as it was impossible to get a square out. I gave my hubby and son a taste and they said it was far too sweet and to return to my previous crispy square recipe which used butter and marshmallows rather than carnation.

Hello Jac, sorry to hear your crispy squares were not successful. It sounds like your mixture needed a little longer on the boil. We hope you have more success next time!
