Rated 4 out of 5 by from Even nicer with cinnamon I thought this recipe might be sickly sweet in view of the use of Carnation Caramel-so reduced the amount of sugar in the crumble by half and used Demerara for a bit of crunch . As inundated with fresh apples cooked them in bulk with no extra sugar and weighed off 385 g . Add a sprinkle of cinnamon to the apple as this goes so well with apple and caramel. Drain excess moisture and you won’t have a soggy sponge. The recipe was a bit faffy but well worth the effort. Waiting for it to cool before cutting was the hardest part

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Soggy bottom Great taste but sponge layer very thin and soggy when baked. Mixture had milk, eggs and crème fraiche so very moist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delicious Autumnal Recipe! This was a lovely recipe - it was nice and quick to make and tasted delicious! I didn't have tinned apples so used tinned pears instead, which worked very well. It tasted very autumnal! Will be making again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great apple dessert I made this with real apples and slightly less sugar (1oz rather than 2oz) in the crumble mix and it was very tasty hot or cold with custard, cream and on its own.
