Caramel and Apple Traybake

Delicious caramel and apple slices which everyone will love. (Serves 24)

  • For the Sponge Base
  • 60g golden caster sugar
  • 120g self raising flour
  • 90g buttery baking spread*
  • 2 eggs
  • 1tbsp milk
  • For the Topping
  • 160g Carnation Caramel
  • 385g Tinned Apples
  • For the Crumble
  • 55g golden caster sugar

Here's how easy it is...
  1. Preheat the oven to 180C (160C with fan) Gas mark 4.
  2. Use an electric mixer to mix all the base ingredients until light and smooth. Tip into a lined baking tray and spread to cover the base. Place the apples evenly over the sponge.
  3. Scoop the Carnation Caramel into a small bowl and stir until smooth. Drizzle over the apples.
  4. In a separate bowl rub the crumble ingredients together until the buttery baking spread is incorporated into lumpy crumbs. Sprinkle over the apples and place into the centre of the oven.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes until the crumble topping is turning golden. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before cutting.
