Smartie Chocolate Cupcakes

Try these simple cakes out with any mini-chefs in the household and have fun decorating with Nestlé Smarties. They're perfect for birthday parties too!

  • 100g plain flour
  • 25g cocoa powder
  • 250g Carnation Condensed Milk
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 85g buttery spread*
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • Frosting
  • 200g icing sugar
  • 2tbsp cocoa powder
  • 55g buttery spread*, softened
  • few drops vanilla extract
  • 2-3tbsp Carnation Condensed Milk
  • 2 boxes Nestlé Mini Smarties, to finish

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 180°C, (160°C for fan ovens), Gas Mark 4.
  2. 2. Put the cupcake ingredients in a bowl and beat (use an electric hand mixer if you have one!) until light and creamy
  3. 3. Put the cupcake cases into the tin and spoon in the mixture. Bake for about 15-18 minutes until springy. Cool slightly then lift out onto
  4. 4. When cool, beat the icing sugar, cocoa powder, butter and vanilla with enough condensed milk to make a thick icing. Spread or pipe onto the cakes. Finish with a few mini Smarties!
